Back in 1996 I was using powdered milk in quite a bit of baking. Haven’t done that for years. Just use milk in place of water.
Also, I don’t usually have corn syrup in the house. Honey or sugar replaces that. I warm the milk to about 110F.
Here is another recipe (not sure where I got it from).
Mix together:
- 2 cups lukewarm milk ( 110F)
- 3 Tbsp sugar
- 1egg, beaten
- 1 cup flour
Then add:
- 3 cups flour
- 1Tbsp yeast
Add more milk if needed to make a thin batter.
Cinnamon, diced apples and raisins may be added.
Let rise for 1-2 hours. Then deep fry.
Have icing sugar on hand for dipping. Each his own little dish!
