In heavy pan, melt:
1 pkg. caramels (about 50)
1/3 cup evaporated milk
Set aside the above mixture. Grease and flour a 9x13 pan. In a large bowl mix the following:
1 pkg. German Chocolate Cake Mix
1/3 cup evaporated milk
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
1/2 cup butter (melted, but not hot)
By hand, mix the dough until it holds together. Press half of it into the pan. Bake at 350ºF for 6 minutes. Sprinkle with:
6 oz. chocolate chips
Spread the caramel over the chocolate chips. Crumble the rest of the dough over the caramel. Bake 15 minutes at 350ºF, it will set when it is cool.
