Thousand Island Pickles

I got this recipe from mom, who said she got it from Jane.  I have made a lot of batches of these.  I can almost taste how good pork roast marinated in juice from these pickles then baked in the oven tasted.

Bring the following to a boil:

2 cups vinegar
3 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups tumeric powder
2 Tbsp. flour
3 tsp. celery seed
3 tsp. salt

Add and boil 5 more minutes:

5 qt. cucumbers (peeled and sliced)
1 qt. onions (sliced)

Put in jars and seal.  It doesn’t look like much juice at first, but the liquid from the cucumbers boils out so there is plenty.
