Combine the following:
- 1 lb. hamburger (browned slightly)
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 1 cup diced celery
- 1 pkg. dry onion soup mix
- 1 cup chopped carrots
- 14 cups water
- 4 cups canned tomatoes
- 3 beef bouillon cubes
Simmer for two hours. During last half hour of cooking, add:
- 1/2 cup pearl barley
- 1 pkg. (10 oz.) frozen mixed vegetables (optional)
