Crockpot
A friend originally made this for us and it is great. We use a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store, clean the meat off to chop for the soup and then boil the rest of the carcass to make some of the chicken broth that is required.
Janel got this recipe from a friend (Becky Lehman) and when we make chili, this is the recipe we usually fall back on. You can adlib with a few things (we've added corn and mushrooms, for example) and if you need a little protein, you can add ground meat easily.
Here's one crockpot recipe that's a standby at our house--pea soup. We often eat it with cornbread.
Easy to prepare in the slow cooker and since it takes 9-10 hours to cook on low, its a great recipe for when you will be away from home all day.
We bought a huge bag of apples from an orchard so we were looking for apple recipes. This was a request from Janel so I found a recipe online and modified it slightly based on quantities we had on hand.
We had this at a friend's house and asked for the recipe. Danica says "Sorry for this extremely imprecise recipe. Let me know if you make it so I can perfect the recipe."
