All in the pot at once and you don't brown the ground beef. It's my new favorite one-pot-save-your-sanity-at-5:00 meal!
Layer:
- 5-6 slices of uncooked bacon at the bottom of the stew pot
- Golfball sized chunks of raw hamburger
- salt and pepper to taste
- potatoes (halved)
- carrots
- onion slices
- cabbage slices
Heat on high 1-2 minutes, then add 3/4 cup of water or beef broth.
Cover, turn to medium/low and simmer for about an hour (or until veggies are tender).
