Bev sent me this recipe.  Since quite a few of our family are not crazy about coleslaw, this is a great recipe because it keeps for a while.  I usually take out what we need for a meal rather then setting the whole thing out each time. This keeps it fresh, esp. in the summer.

In large bowl combine:

  • 1 medium cabbage shredded
  • 1 large onion sliced in rings

Sprinkle with:

  • 3/4 cup sugar

To prepare dressing:  Bring to boil:

  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. celery seed
  • 1 tsp. mustard

Remove from heat and add:

  • 3/4 cup salad oil

Bring to boil again.  Then pour over cabbage immediately.  Cover tightly, leave overnight.
