Dutch Meatballs with Gravy

Mix together:

1 1/2 lb. ground beef
1 cup quick oatmeal
1 egg
1/2 pkg. dry onion soup mix
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. black pepper

Form into small meatballs and place on an ungreased cookie sheet.  Bake at 325ºF for 30-45 minutes or until nicely browned.  Pour off excess fat.  Pour a little water on the cookie sheet and return to oven briefly. 


Combine and simmer for 5 minutes:

2 cups boiling water
1/2 pkg. dry onion soup mix

Mix together, then add to hot soup mix:

2 Tbsp. cornstarch
1/4 cup water

Stir as it thickens.  Run a spatula under the meatballs to loosen them, then add them (and the water) to the gravy.  We like these with potatoes, corn, and peas.
