Sweet and Sour Barbeque Sauce

John found this recipe in the Whole Earth Cook Book while in medical school, and used it often on chicken (as the recipe suggested).  We also use it on meatballs, porkchops, spare ribs.  It uses our own honey...

Mix together in 2 cup measuring cup:

  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 cup Soya sauce
  • 1 tsp. powdered mustard
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • a dash of garlic powder
  • salt and pepper to taste

Place meat in a casserole dish.  Pour sauce over meat.  Cover and bake at 325ºF or 350ºF until done.  Baste or turn occasionally.  I usually simmer ribs first to get rid of extra fat.  Other meat can be raw.
