This is the recipe we use for our pizza crust every Saturday night. Dawn made it at Dordt once and when she had the pizza in the oven, opened the microwave and found the margarine. The pizza tasted fine, so now we just leave out the margarine.
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 Tbsp. melted margarine (can be omitted)
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 2 tsp. dry yeast
- 2 1/2 cups flour
Mix the water, margarine, sugar and salt. Add 1 cup of flour and then the yeast. Add the remaining flour and knead briefly. Cover and let rise for approximately 45 minutes. Spread on a greased cookie sheet or two 12 inch round pans. Top with the following (you may pick and choose, or make a variety):
- tomato sauce
- Italian seasoning
- ham, pepperoni, ground beef
- pineapple
- green peppers and onions
- mushrooms
- grated mozzarella cheese
After toppings are on, bake at 400-425 ºF for about 20 minutes.
