Desserts and Pies

Since our family likes monkey breads and likes to make yeast dough – I thought this would be a winner.

Dessert for the Burns supper! The kids were nervous so we cut quite far back on the whiskey volume.

Molten Peanut Butter and Chocolate Cake.

This was Alleia's 13th birthday treat -- a keeper for sure!

Pecan Pie

Janel made this for my birthday – yum!

Almost-instant Soft Serve

This is a really quick and tasty dessert treat. It's a variation of a recipe we found in a Food & Wine magazine. We first tried it as part of Reuben's 7th birthday festivities.

Plum Frangipane Tart

I made this for the first time while we were staying with Jon & Erika for a couple of weeks in the summer of 2010. It's great for late summer or fall, when you can find plums that are ripe to the point of being wrinkly.

'Frangipane' refers to the filling made with almonds.

Spiced Apple Pear Crumble Pie

This is a recipe I made up based on a variety of online sources and the contents of our fridge. I think it turned out fairly well.

This is super good, for dessert.

Nellie Ann's Pie Crust

I think I use this recipe the most. (Gert)

Everybody here likes to see left over mashed potatoes used in these doughnuts.  Imagine our surprise as we bit into a doughnut after using the mashed potatoes to which onion powder had been added!
